Commitment. Ideas. Partnership.

Partnering Your Interests.

Located in the heart of Berlin we have been a genuine alternative to large and impersonal law firms since 2001. People who come to us seeking advice and help profit from our broad expertise and highly qualified legal work. At the same time, they feel that they are in good hands. We attach great importance to personal support for every single client.

Effective. Experienced. Successful.

We are convinced that we can only maintain a high level of service by concentrating on a few areas. Hence, everyone at our law firm has their clear-cut fields of activity. As our client, you can count on your attorney being a well-versed expert. We regard this as the essential precondition for effective and successful attorney-client relationships.

The three pillars of our work:

Personal support, transparency and clarity.

We want to present your legal situation and possible courses of action to you clearly and understandably. Efficiency is a key issue for us. There must be a sound balance between cost and benefit, and the billing of our services transparent at all times.

We are committed to these principles. They guide our actions.

Michel LLP is a member of the International Lawyers Network (ILN), an association of highly qualified law firms with more than 5,000 attorneys worldwide. The Network provides clients with comprehensive and easily accessible legal services in 66 countries on six continents.

Our Fields of Work

Real Estate Law

Since embarking on their professional careers, the attorneys in our firm have worked mainly in all areas of real estate law. The focus is on land law in the classic sense. Anybody involved in real estate, be it as an investor, builder, contractor, project developer or funder, can count on comprehensive advice.

When it comes to buying, brokering or selling real-estate projects - we will provide you with personal and customized support in every phase of that project. We can draw up and draft your contracts, accompany you in negotiations, court hearings or guide through performance of a contract. And of course we provide you with the notary services you need in-house. Our consulting services range from answering individual questions through to devising complex solutions and structures in real estate law matters.

Likewise, we help sellers and investors in their real-estate transactions, including real estate due diligence. Our real-estate law consulting also covers the related fields of construction law and the law governing realtors and also rental and residential property. Commercial tenancy law is one of our core competences.

Thanks to our level of specialization, we can complete even complex matters within the very shortest terms and to a high standard of quality. In other words, with Michel LLP at your side you can count on having a reliable legal foundation for business activities of any scale.

Three experienced notaries work at Michel LLP.

Commercial and Corporate Law

Handels- und Gesellschaftsrecht

A large part of our consulting and legal work involves commercial and corporate law. Our consulting services range from founding and restructuring companies through to buying and selling companies and also generation changes in family-run companies. You can count on sound answers to specific company-law questions and also complex corporate-law measures. Our clients regard our services very highly. They ensure that you can always respond promptly to changing competitive conditions.

We also advise on the preparation and staging of annual general meetings, on changes in top management, on the liability of shareholders and on capital measures, mergers and other transformations within meaning of the German transformation act.

Notary Services

As notaries public we draft and record purchase agreements of sale for real estate (portfolios, sites, residential properties), hereditary lease agreements and the company-law contracts these frequently entail.

You are looking to sell your real estate portfolio as a share deal or asset deal? Here too, we are your competent partners.

We advise and support property divisions under the Condominium Act, draft property developer agreements, clarify land register issues and advise on individual and global rights succession for land.

Our company law notary services cover all company forms including German stock corporation law.

Architect Law

We advise principals and planners in all areas of architect law.

Fees, due date, supplementary claims, flat-rate fees, exceeding minimum rates - these are the key issues that face us and our clients time and again.

Who is responsible? The architect? The craftsmen? This question soon raises its head when there are problems with the building project. We advise principals and architects competently and comprehensively.

The drafting of contracts, advice throughout the construction phase and handling the legal aspects of contracts form the focus of our work in this field.

Construction Law

From contract negotiations and ongoing consultancy during the execution of construction projects through to the completion of projects - in civil construction law we cover the entire spectrum. And we never lose sight of your commercial interests.

We are there for you right from the very first stages and support you in the structuring of your projects, in the preparation and issuing of invitations for tenders, followed by negotiating and signing of all the contracts involved. Our clients include companies in the construction industry, architects and engineering firms and also the public sector and their companies.

Our range of services encompasses drawing up a wide range of contracts for the players involved, be it as general or prime contractors or subcontractors.

An added bonus: Alternative Dispute Resolution. We have long years of experience in settling disputes via alternative methods: mediation or arbitration tribunals can save long and expensive, not to mention nerve-wracking, court proceedings.

An attractive offer: loannis Lazos regularly gives lectures on construction-law issues and holds training sessions.

Commercial Tenancy Law

Gewerbliches Mietrecht

Of key economic importance for our clients is commercial tenancy law. Here we are with you right from the start. We accompany you from the early initiation stages and contract negotiations through to the signing stage.

If you want, we can also help you to terminate a tenancy agreement - from the formalities for giving notice through to dealing with the aftermath of a terminated tenancy.

We can draft your commercial tenancy agreements to give you legal certainty and protect your interests.

Avoiding litigation or laying a sound foundation for success in court are our goals. As our client, you will profit from our wealth of trial experience in this field.

When it comes to litigation before courts and tribunals, you can rely on our years of experience. Here especially, our principle of very personal support comes into play. For each and every one of our clients - and hence for you too - we always devise a case strategy and tactics tailored to your specific situation.

We have the necessary know-how and the resources to handle even large and complex legal suits. Injunction hearings at short notice are no problem for us, either. The goal is always the same: a commercially reasonable solution.

Optimum consulting includes, in our view, minimizing or even completely avoiding conflicts and the risk of litigation right from the start. Alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration round off our consulting portfolio.

Employment Law

We draft, negotiate and optimize employment and services agreements. In addition, we represent employers and employees in unlawful dismissal proceedings and other lawsuits.

We advise companies on planned downsizing measures and in the preparation of redundancies.

We advise employees and employers on aspects of individual and collective employment law.

Liability Law

Liability cases come in many variations:

  • attorney liability
  • notary liability
  • architect liability

We advise and represent insurance companies and their policyholders in defending claims. Or perhaps you are looking to assert such claims? Here too we can represent your best interests.

We draft expert opinions, examine possible claims and as part of the claim settlement conduct negotiations with the other parties.
